Poetry

For those two or three of you who read this blog and are annoyed by the lack of postings, I would like to apologize. I have been operating under the belief that this blog should be utilized only when a) I have something interesting to write about, and b) I have the time to write about that something. Because I possess neither, I have simply elected to neglect this blog altogether.

All of this is about to change, however. I have decided to blog more often, whether or not I have something important to write about, or the time to do so. The result is likely to be a blog filled with short, boring entries. Don't blame me, blame my constituents. Yes, I mean you.

I should also warn you that for the next few weeks my blog will most likely be filled with poetry. Not that my entries will utilize flowery descriptions or striking metaphors, but that I will actually be posting poems. You can blame my Creative Writing professor for that one. I will be writing several poems for class, and I just know you are dying to see what I come up with.

This is my first poem...I mean ever, so don't judge me. I wrote this during a class exercise. It took me five long minutes to write, so I hope you can appreciate the effort I put into it.

Ode to Facebook

The laundry is not folded
and the dishes are not washed.

I haven’t cooked your dinner
and the children may be lost.

You probably thought
I was busy with homework,
but alas! I was not.

Forgive me for neglecting
the house, the kids, and you,

but Facebook is so addicting
that I just was never through.
